Giving Now
There are several types of funds to which you can contribute or establish that allow you to start giving now.
- A gift to our Community Opportunity Fund, also known as unrestricted, is pooled together with a large number of other gifts and supports the community immediately. These types of gifts give the Community Foundation the greatest latitude in being responsive to critical issues based on its ongoing assessment of community needs.
- Donor Advised funds allow a donor to support causes to which donors are most committed. Grants are awarded one-year after the fund is established. They are a flexible, personalized way to support causes donors are most committed to.
- Scholarship funds allow donors to help students receive a post secondary education—using criteria the donor requests. The Community Foundation is recognized as a natural repository for and manager of Scholarship funds assuming legal requirement and reporting are met.
- Designated funds allow donors to support specific non-profit organizations. By setting up a designated fund, donors can provide long-term support for an organization they are committed to.
- Organizational Endowment funds, which are a type of Designated Fund, can be created by or on behalf of a nonprofit organization for its endowment. Placing an endowment with the Community Foundation relieves the organization of internal accounting and external reporting, increases opportunities for maximizing investment returns, ensures long-term growth, and provides an open vehicle for others to give for all time.
- Field Of Interest funds allow donors to establish a fund that addresses an area of interest to
the donor, such as the arts, environment, or human services, while
relying on the expertise of the Community Foundation to determine the
most effective use of the fund.
- Acorn funds provide flexibility for donors who want to make a named gift over a
period of time. Acorn Funds consist of a minimum gift of $1,000 per
year with a total contribution of at least $10,000. The money is
placed in the Unrestricted Endowment.
- Temporary funds provide an avenue for donors to make annual gifts in which the entire principal is granted out to non-profits or scholarships.
