Giving Now
There are several types of funds you can contribute to or establish that allow you to start giving now.
- A gift
to our Community Opportunity Fund, also known as unrestricted is pooled
together with a large number of other gifts and supports the community
immediately. This type of gifts give the Community Foundation the greatest
latitude over the years in how to direct grants, based on its ongoing
assessment of community needs.
- Donor
Advised funds allow a donor to contribute assets to their fund at any time
and then recommend grants to support charitable gifts of their choice.
Grants are awarded one-year after the fund is established. They are a
flexible, personalized way to support causes donors are most committed to.
- Scholarship
funds allow donors to help students receive a post secondary
education—using criteria the donor requests. Because scholarships are time
consuming and must comply with specific legal requirements, the Community
Foundation is recognized as a natural repository for and manager of
Scholarship funds.
- Designated
funds allow donors to support specific non-profit organizations. Once
established, ????? need timeline…
- Organizational
Endowment funds, which are a type of Designated Fund, can be created by or
on behalf of a nonprofit organization for its endowment. Placing an
endowment with the Community Foundation relieves the organization of
internal accounting and external reporting, increases opportunities for
maximizing investment returns, and ensures long-term growth.
- Temporary funds provide an avenue for donors to make annual gifts in which the entire principal is granted out to non-profits or for scholarships.
