GREG IRONS AWARD
History
The Greg Irons Award was established in 1990 to honor the memory of Greg Irons who was a lifelong Duluthian and a graduate of Duluth East High School. In high school and college he excelled on athletic fields as well as in the classroom. Following college graduation, he was employed by Duluth Public Schools as a science teacher, minority student tutor and athletic coach. Greg died in a hunting accident in the fall of 1989. Because Greg devoted his professional and his personal life to teaching and serving special needs students so as to provide all students with the opportunities for success in life, his family established The Greg Irons Award to honor individuals in the Duluth Public Schools who exemplify the work of Greg Irons.
